Copper Oxidation
Copper has a beautiful red-orange hue – copper jewelry dates all the way back to 8th century B.C. It’s an essential mineral which occurs naturally in the human body, and also in nature.
When copper is exposed to skin sweat, lotions and oils, it naturally darkens and tarnishes, forming what’s typically referred to as copper patina.
This patina may leave a bluish-green mark on your skin. Copper stains are not harmful and are easily washed off with soap and water.
Many people buy copper jewelry specifically for its purported healing properties which result from direct contact with copper, however, if you prefer to wear copper purely for adornment and would rather reduce the oxidation, an optional protective sealant is available.
