The Details

US Buffalo Nickels were minted by the US Mint from 1913 through 1938. Designed by sculptor, James Earle Fraser, the obverse of the coin features a Native American bust, “LIBERTY” and year (if visible). The reverse of the coin features the American Bison, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, “FIVE CENTS”.

The 1/2oz Incuse Indian 0.999 pure copper rounds are minted in the USA by Golden State Mint and designed to pay tribute to the “Indian Head Gold Coin” which was minted from 1908 to 1929. Inspired by the original designer, William Sturgis Bigelow, and sculpted by Bela Lyon Pratt, the sunken relief obverse (front) of the coin features the profile of a Native American chief in full headdress, with “LIBERTY” across on the top. The reverse features the American Eagle, “In God We Trust”, “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, and the “Golden State Mint” inscription across the top.
